The course, organized and curated by the Italian Air Warfare Centre, took place at the Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE) on Friday 26 October. The 4th Qualification Course “Ufficiale Lessons Learned” was concluded for Officers of the Air Force employed at the agencies, commands and operational units at all levels of the Italian Air Force.
The course enabled the qualification of 25 new Officers who will strengthen the organizational structure of the AM’s “Lessons Learned System”, thus ensuring greater efficiency in the processes of “Lessons Learned”, fundamental to avoid the repetition of errors, fill capacity gaps and, more generally, optimize the performance of the entire Armed Forces. This fourth edition saw the confirmation of the inter-service nature of the course, with two senior officers serving at the Army General Staff and the Inter-Service High-Level Operations Command, and its extension to the inter-ministerial field by the presence of a senior officer from the Guardia di Finanza.
The organization and the teaching activity were ensured by qualified personnel from the Italian Air Warfare Centre, an AM agency whose institutional responsibilities include the coordination and supervision of the Lessons Learned processes of the entire Armed Forces, in line with the renewed policy of the Air Force, aimed at strongly enhancing the culture and effectiveness of the Lessons Learned System through the creation of expertise at all levels of the organization.
The course allows participants to acquire the concepts inherent in the Lessons Learned system, practice some analysis techniques, and familiarize themselves with the logic of the Lessons Learned portals, an essential tool for managing the LL processes, from the collection of observations arising from the various activities carried out by the authorities and personnel of the AM, to their transformation first into Identified Lessons and then into Lessons Learned to be shared with the entire Armed Forces.
The evolution of the Aerospace-Space Power passes through the concept of “Force Innovation” in which every blue-uniform military plays a fundamental active role. In all events – operations, exercises and training – in which the Air Force participates, the Officer Lessons Learned represents the professional figure, at the disposal of the Commander, capable of coordinating the process of resolving the emerging critical issues or disseminating the good practices developed, ensuring the organizational and capacity growth of the military instrument.
