At the 3rd Wing in Villafranca, joint personnel from the Movement & Transportation (M&T) sector have renewed their IATA DGR/SMA LOG 005 qualification. As part of the activity, attending personnel received a technical and professional update through dedicated training modules covering an analysis of sector regulations and the relevant procedures to be implemented for the aerial transport of dangerous goods by both national civilian and military carriers. The classroom sessions were conducted by lecturers and instructors from various Armed Forces Departments, as well as from companies accredited to issue specific national and international qualifications, such as the IATA School.
The 3rd Wing is involved in the M&T sector, including aspects related to training and authorisation release, not only for the Italian Air Force but also within Joint and Multinational spheres, through participation in the “European Air Group (EAG)”. Furthermore, the Wing ensures the national Air Terminal Operation Centre (A.T.O.C.) capability for the provision of technical-operational support for all “airport” operations relating to military air carriers, both national and allied, guaranteeing all expeditionary and deployable aeronautical capabilities for the Combat Support/Combat Service Support (CS/CSS) components of the Air Expeditionary Task Force (AETF).
