The Basic Course for Air Operations Preparation (CPO1) took place at Poggio Renatico. The CPO1 is divided into two phases: the first consists of initial academic indoctrination, and the second, purely practical, involves a simulation of air power planning and employment in a crisis scenario. The programme for the recently concluded course is equivalent to that of the Initial Functional JFACC Training (IJFT) Course of the NATO Deployable Air Command and Control Centre (DACCC).
Passing the CPO1 and exceeding it allows attendees to obtain the qualification in “Air Operations Management” as per SMA ORD-15 edition 2014.
The AOTC's mission is to prepare and qualify personnel for the Armed Forces for the delicate task of conducting Air Operations within complex Command and Control structures such as the JFACC (Joint Force Air Component Command) and in national and multinational contexts (UN, NATO, EU, coalitions of the willing).
