From June 11 to 22, the Eurofighter aircraft of the 4th and 36th Squadrons participated in the multinational exercise in Turkey. In addition to the Air Force, the air forces of Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and a NATO AWACS asset also participated in the exercise.
The 'Anatolian Eagle 2012”, like other multinational exercises, represented an ideal scenario for bringing together operational experiences and different weapon systems in a context where the sharing of high training standards was accompanied by a significant rationalization of logistical and support costs. During the exercise, the Italian contingent deployed received a visit from the Commander of the Combat Forces (C.F.C.), Air Division General Roberto Nordio, who had the opportunity to see the crews and technical personnel at work during the execution of the planned missions.
The participation of Italian aircraft and personnel in 'Anatolian Eagle 2012” has been planned since 2011 and falls within the framework of the training events of priority interest programmed by the Armed Forces for 2012. The Italian Air Force has already participated in four previous editions, and this year’s event was an additional opportunity to improve and foster the integration between flight crews from different nations in the conduct of all the complex aerial missions that characterize the current scenarios of intervention by the air force. The need to operate effectively in international crisis contexts, as emerged during the recent air campaign in Libya, requires a rapid response capability and a perfect integration of systems and procedures between different countries.
