From 10 to 14 September, personnel from the 4th and 36th Wing were engaged in Germany at the German base of Neuburg (Germany).
The polygon, encompassing a vast territory exclusively dedicated to electronic warfare training activities, possesses internal replicas of former Eastern Bloc missile systems which are used for defence training against such surface-to-air threats.
From 10-14 September, an F2000 flight of the 4th and 36th Stormo, with pilots also from the 37th Stormo, participated in this training activity, deploying daily to Neuburg Air Base and flying missions that involved studying threats, reacting to missile systems, and related evasions towards areas considered free and safe.
The F2000 weapon system, understood both as the aircraft itself and its onboard systems, has responded more than positively to the missions it was called upon to perform, further demonstrating its capabilities.
The Typhoon thus confirms itself, once again, as a consolidated, established, and mature asset, ready for any type of deployment, even in scenarios considered complex.
The synergy between the Italian Air Force wings operating this aircraft has enabled all scheduled missions to be flown with an efficiency rate of 100%, thereby enhancing the training benefits and the “lessons learnt” derived from this valuable activity.
