The 3rd airdrop campaign of the MISIN mission has concluded.

90 Nigerien soldiers achieve military parachute qualification

At the Italian base of Bilateral Support Mission in the Republic of Niger (MISIN) concluded, on Friday 12 December, the third airdrop campaign, which allowed 90 members of the Forces of Defence and Security for the attainment of the military parachuting badge, as part of the training activities conducted by the Italian contingent.

The training course included a preparatory phase at the Airborne Troops Training Centre in Niamey and a final phase of tethered parachute drops, carried out by a C-27J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade of the Italian Air Force.

During the closing ceremony, the Commander of MISIN, Brigadier General Ivan Cioffi, has addressed a thank you to the Italian contingent and, specifically, to the staff of the Mobile Training Team of the Italian Army Parachuting Training Centre, of the Task Group Air and the components involved in the activities of Capacity Building, Security Force Assistance e Stability Policing, highlighting the contribution made to strengthening local operational capabilities. The ceremony was also attended by the Representative of the Italian Embassy in Niger, Colonel Mauro Conte, who expressed appreciation for the commitment and professionalism of the Italian contingent in supporting the development of the Nigerien Defence and Security Forces.

Since 2018 mission MISIN It has trained over 12,000 Nigerien soldiers. In 2025 alone, 316 of them qualified as military paratroopers, completing more than 1,000 jumps in total.
