Press Release No. 62/2021 ITALIAN AIR FORCE AND UNIVERSITY OF PALERMO TOGETHER IN A PROJECT FOR MUSEUM RESEARCH, PROTECTION AND ENHANCEMENT From an operational perspective, the Museo dei Motori will be responsible for both the restoration of the fifty engines at its laboratory and their subsequent exhibition. In particular, given the complementary exhibition aims of the Italian Air Force, which prioritise the museum display of artefacts that were in ordinary service with its operational units, and those of the Museo dei Motori, which are strongly oriented towards the evolution of engines in general, given its academic nature, some of the Italian Air Force's engines, of great historical and collectible value, will be exhibited at the Air Force Historical Museum in Vigna di Valle (Rome), while the others will be displayed at the Historical Museum of Engines and Mechanisms in Palermo. These artefacts, some of which were produced in very few examples for research purposes, represent together a heritage of considerable historical interest that can be further enhanced within the exhibition context of the Museo dei Motori through a dedicated pathway describing the development of engines in the aeronautical field.
