Press release no. 42/2022 Emergency medical flight: Italian Air Force Falcon 50 transports a woman from Bari Palese to Milan Linate The medical transport was carried out using a Falcon 50 transport aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force An emergency medical transport carried out by a Falcon 50 of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force has just concluded, having flown from Bari Palese airport to Milan Linate with a 42-year-old woman in a particularly critical medical condition on board. The transport request, as is standard in these cases, was received by the Prefecture of Bari at the Top Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the Italian Air Force operations centre whose duties include arranging and managing this type of mission by activating one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready 24 hours a day at various bases for such necessities. The Falcon 50 took off in the early afternoon from the military airport of Ciampino, home of the 31st Wing, bound for Bari Palese airport. Here the patient was embarked on the military aircraft, which immediately departed for Milan Linate airport. After landing at the Lombard airport, the woman was transferred by ambulance to be admitted to the Mangiagalli Clinic of the Milan Policlinico. Missions of this type require the utmost promptness. The Italian Air Force flight departments are at the service of the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with assets and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.
