Press Release No. 32/2021 Cortina 2021, Alpine Ski World Championships: the Frecce Tricolori unfurl the Tricolore over the Dolomites
The Frecce Tricolori will unfurl the longest Tricolour in the world above the skies of Cortina: Sunday 14 February on the occasion of one of the most iconic races of the Alpine Skiing World Championships Cortina 2021, the MB339PAN aircraft of the Frecce Tricolori will unfurl the green, white, and red of the Italian flag over the finish line of the descent before the start of the men's race at 10.00 AM. In a breathtaking scenario, between the majestic Dolomite peaks, UNESCO World Heritage site, the Frecce Tricolori will perform their first fly-past of 2021, a prelude to an aerobatic season that will once again represent the teamwork of the men and women of the Air Force, with the aim of carrying a message of hope, solidarity, and economic and social recovery. Preparation, Speed, technology e Team spirit are just some of the elements that unite the Atletico of alpine skiing and the staff of the Frecce Tricolori, and more generally of the Air Force. The Frecce Tricolori return after 40 years to the skies of Cortina d'Ampezzo: it was 7 January 1981 when the National Acrobatic Patrol laid down the tricolour smoke for the opening of the World Bobsleigh Championships hosted by the Queen of the Dolomites. 2021 is a special year for the Frecce Tricolori: the 1st March, in fact, the PAN will carry out 60 years of its constitution.
