Nel primo pomeriggio un bimbo nigeriano di 12 giorni in gravi condizioni di salute è stato trasportato con la massima urgenza da Alghero a Genova, per ricevere cure specialistiche presso l’Ospedale Gaslini.
The transport was carried out by a C130J of the 46th Air Brigade, which took off from the airport of Alghero around 16:00 and landed in Genoa an hour later. Here, the little boy was quickly transported in an ambulance, protected by a thermal cradle, to the hospital facility.
The request for transport came from the Prefecture of Sassari to the Situation Room of the Air Force Command, the operational room of the Air Force that has among its tasks the authorization and management – in coordination with Prefectures, Hospitals and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – of this type of transport throughout the national territory, including the islands.
For this type of mission, which requires extremely rapid reaction times, the Air Force maintains assets and crews in a state of operational readiness, available to citizens every single day of the year, 24 hours a day, capable of operating in complex meteorological conditions, ensuring the urgent transport not only of people in imminent life-threatening danger and medical teams, but also of organs and ambulances.
