The Italian Air Force Officer was remembered during the opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the Master’s degree in “Procurement Management – Supplies and Procurement”. During this year’s ceremony, a commemoration was held for the late Brigadier General Francesco Annicchiarico, who passed away prematurely on 13th January 2011. The Master's management, in the person of Prof. Gustavo Piga, wished to honour the memory of the Officer as a highly valued lecturer, as a demonstration of the importance attached to the collaboration established with the Italian Air Force and, subsequently, with the Defence Administration.
Following the welcome addresses by Prof. Francesco Ranalli, Director of the Department of Business Studies, Government and Philosophy, Brigadier General Salvatore Loria, Director of the Inter-force Centre for Logistics Training (Ce.F.L.I.), and Dr Maurizio Roca, representative of I.N.P.S. as the funding body for eight scholarships, Prof. Piga emphasised how the Master's course has found new and successful impetus in the collaboration established with the Italian Air Force, both through the highly qualified participation of students and faculty, and through the contribution to its image and teaching content that this collaboration has provided. Within this very framework, Prof. Piga wished to pay tribute to General Annicchiarico, remembered as “wonderful person”, whose skill“I solved it quickly, teacher. Subsequently, Chief Inspector General Raffaele Tortora, Head of the Italian Air Force Commissary Corps and Director at the Institute for Advanced Defence Studies (I.A.S.D.), highlighted how both the academic context and the number of attendees represented an opportunity “most appropriate to give the well-deserved prestige and rightful prominence to the moral and professional qualities of a serious and competent Officer, a loyal and honest man, who as Head of the Commissariat Corps is pointed out to all for his exceptional qualities”General Tortora, therefore, highlighted how the character“frank and resourceful, the calm yet resolute tone, the evaluations always careful and measured, the decisions always considered and circular in their completeness” have made General Annichiarico highly sought after by superiors, colleagues and subordinates, and also highly appreciated in his teaching roles, including the one that led him to collaborate with Prof. Piga. Finally, General Tortora concluded his speech “addressing a very grateful thought to the University of Tor Vergata, in particular to the Rector and to Prof. Piga, for having wished to dedicate such a significant moment to Francesco, not only for all of us who knew him, but also for those who have only heard of him and will continue to hear of him in the future”.
