On Monday 4th April, General S.A. Tosi was welcomed on arrival by General S.A. Ottone, Commander of COA and CAOC5.
Upon his arrival, General Tosi was welcomed by the Commander of COA and CAOC5 (Combined Air Operations Centre), Air Squadra General Mario Renzo Ottone, who, after a brief greeting, accompanied General Tosi to the meeting room for a meeting with the Base COBAR and with the Dean of the Non-Commissioned Officers and other ranks of all the Units on the airfield.
Following a presentation on the COA's activities, the Air Force Commander was able to visit the Command's facilities, with particular reference to the rooms where courses for the newly established COA's AOTC (Air Operation Training Centre) are held. The purpose of the AOTC is to autonomously train and qualify personnel for command and control duties within structures such as the JFACC (Joint Force Air Component Command). Subsequently, General Tosi visited CAOC5, where all activities for the current NATO Operation for Libya ‘Unified Protector’ are managed, at the ACCS (Air Command and Control System) facility and the national operational room of the AOC (Air Operation Centre) and the Air Defence Control Reporting Group.
Before leaving the Poggio Renatico base, General Tosi, after signing the Book of Honour, expressed words of appreciation for the efficiency and capability he observed in the Commander and the men of the COA, wishing them a future full of satisfaction.
