On Thursday 11 February, the handover ceremony with Col. Errico for the Inter-Forces Administrative Center La cerimonia was presided over by Brigadier General Alessandro Veltri, Commander of the Regional Command West, the NATO command led by Italy, multinational and inter-forces based on the “Sassari” Brigade, which since October 21st has assumed responsibility for the western region of Afghanistan.
During his speech, Colonel Errico expressed his utmost appreciation for the excellent results achieved by the men who worked under his command and wished Colonel Li Greci, who comes from the IDepartment of Air Force General Veltri expressed “very great satisfaction and sincere gratitude for the great professionalism with which Colonel Errico led the Inter-Service Administrative Center of the Regional Command West, the administrative hub for the national contingent deployed in Afghanistan, also in light of the now more serious commitments that arose following the closure of the CAI in Kabul, whose competencies have been ‘in their entirety’ absorbed by the CAI-I in Herat.”.
Of particular importance in the activities of the CAI-I, in addition to personnel administration, is the intense negotiating activity undertaken for the entrustment of the CIMIC (Civil-Military Cooperation) projects for the reconstruction of the country exclusively to local Afghan companies and enterprises, for the hiring of interpreters, for the procurement of goods and services both to support the Contingent and to assist the Afghan population and institutions.
