On Monday 18 April, the handover of duties with Col. Cappa, who has been entrusted with responsibility for the Prosel project. Colonel Di Bussolo, born in Vasto (CH) in 1964, was admitted to the Air Force Academy in 1983 with the ‘Centauro IV’ course. After completing his academic studies, he was commissioned as an Officer and sent to Flight Schools for his training period. After attending the Specialized Undergraduate Navigator Training and Lead In Fighter Training in the United States, in March 1989 he obtained his Military Navigator's Wings on a Tornado aircraft, at the end of the Operational Conversion Course undertaken in Cottesmore (United Kingdom). Immediately afterwards, he was assigned to the 156th Fighter Bomber Group of the 36th Wing in Gioia Del Colle (Bari), where he achieved Combat Readiness in his specific role within the Wing. During his operational service, which was entirely with the 36th Wing except for a period of service at the Air Force Academy as a training officer for the ‘Nibbio IV’ course, he qualified as a Specialist Instructor (I.S./ITO) and held, among other positions, that of Head of Training Section and Head of Operations Team within the Flying Group. From September 1999 to September 2000, he served as Commander of the 436th SLO Group. Subsequently, he was transferred to the 3rd Department of the Air Force Staff with the initial role of Head of the 4th Attack and Reconnaissance Forces Section of the 2nd Office, then as Head of the 2nd Section where he was responsible for Armed Forces regulations pertaining to Aircrew Personnel and Flying Operations. In July 2006, promoted to the rank of Colonel, he took on the role of Project Manager within the 3rd Department. In September 2010, he was appointed Deputy Head of the 2nd Office.
In addition to attending War College courses, he holds the ISSMI title having completed the 5th course at the Joint Staff College, including the legal advisor course extension. Upon completion of the planned studies, he obtained a degree in Aeronautical Military Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II, a degree in Educational Sciences from the University of L'Aquila, and a degree in Political Sciences from the University of Trieste. He has accumulated over 1,800 flight hours, primarily on Tornado aircraft. In 2005, he was appointed Knight of the Military Order of the Italian Republic. Colonel Di Bussolo is married and has one son.
