The RACSA issues new qualifications to the Officer and Sub-Officer staff of Airspace Control
The Radar and GCA Introduction Course, attended by two Officers, is an advanced level course in air traffic and qualifies personnel to provide the Approach Control Service at airports using the radar system and to conduct precision radar approaches.
The Aerovia Procedural course qualified eight Sublieutenants as Tactical Control Supervisors to be subsequently employed at the four Coordination and Control Services of the Air Force responsible for the management of operational air traffic.
The Course Coordination of Weapon Systems, composed of 11 participants, is part of the training program for junior officers in charge of Air Defense, which qualifies them to perform the functions of coordination in the control of interceptors and in the management of the weapon systems at the disposal of the Air Defense; the newly qualified “C.A.” controllers will be employed in the Radar Groups of the Air Force and the Air Operational Centre in Poggio Renatico (AOC-National Command of the Air Forces). On Friday, December 2nd, the 2nd course in Tactical Management (GESTA) was also concluded for five senior officers, namely the training program for the Air Defense controller who issues the highest qualification required to perform, upon obtaining the corresponding authorization, the tactical management of the assets assigned to the command and control units and used to carry out air operations and exercises, both national and NATO. The RACSA is the Military Aeronautics Department responsible for training officers and non-commissioned officers involved in Airspace Control, who, depending on their specialization, are employed as Air Defense Controllers or Air Traffic Controllers, that is, personnel who 24 hours a day guarantee the defense of the national airspace.
