Charity Concert by the Air Force Band in favour of the Paediatric Neurology Clinic of Chieti. The event, organised by the “International Inner Wheel” club, district of Chieti, represented the culmination of a year-long journey of meetings and charity initiatives, made possible thanks to the important collaboration of the Air Force through the 72nd Wing of Frosinone. During the concert, the Band performed the best of its repertoire, concluding the performance with the rendition of the Air Force March and Mameli's National Anthem, accompanied by the audience. Professor Francesco Chiarelli, Director of the Paediatric Neurology Clinic, thanked the event organisers at the end of the concert. The concert enabled the collection of funds that will be used to purchase an essential instrument for measuring vital signs in children experiencing epileptic seizures. The Air Force Band was established on 1st July 1937 and was christened by Maestro Pietro Mascagni, in whose presence the first concert of the newly formed Band was performed. Currently, the Air Force Band reports directly to the 5th General Affairs Department of the Air Force Staff. The artistic director since 1992 is Maestro Lieutenant Colonel Patrizio Esposito, who works with excellent professionals graduated from various Italian conservatories. The Band's activities are intense: in addition to its institutional duties of honour at the Quirinal Palace and participation in all significant ceremonies of the Armed Force, the Band undertakes tours worldwide, performing in the most important theatres.
