The 2nd Motor Vehicle Maintenance Group has started the activities connected with the celebrations for the Centenary of the Italian Air Force

Saturday 24 September also the 2nd Motor Vehicle Maintenance Group started the activities connected with the celebrations for the Centenary of the Italian Air Force. hosting an atmospheric concert performed by the Imola City Concert Band, conducted by Maestro Gian Paolo Luppi, which, through a together engaging musical, it paid tribute to the values, ideals and commitment of the Italian Air Force to the country since its establishment.

The event took place in the original “Location”of the 2nd M.A. Group workshops, which for the occasion were transformed to welcome an audience of about two hundred guests, including local civil, military and religious authorities and their respective guests. In addition, an important space was dedicated to the Musical Band, composed of about fifty members who, with their energy and enthusiasm, provided moments of heartfelt participation.

The venue setup was characterised by lights, tricolour flags and drapery, but the true protagonists were the fuselage of the G-91 Y recently restored by the Forlì-based organisation and the historical T6 “Pony” aircraft, alongside which a reproduction of the logo of the Centenary and claim which were introduced by the Commander of the 2nd GMA, Lieutenant Colonel Giorgio Agostini, who, at the end of the screening of the official Centenary video, explained the origin and narrative of the symbolism chosen to ideally represent the history and future challenges towards which the Italian Air Force is striving.

The event was supported by the Municipality of Forlì, which granted free patronage, highlighting the bond that for years has connected the ideals and culture of the Italian Air Force with the feelings of closeness of the city recognised as “City of Flight” and which in history has given examples of dedication and selflessness through the sacrifice of two young aviators decorated for military valour, Casadei and Spazzoli.

The following took part in the initiative with heartfelt participation:’Air Force Association in Forlì, providing effective and practical support in the organisation of the event.

The event concluded with the Commander thanking the authorities and guests in attendance, presenting Maestro Luppi with the unit crest, followed by the exchange of commemorative items designed for the occasion and expressions of appreciation from the Mayor of Forlì, Dr Gian Luca Zattini, and the President of the Forlì A.A.A., Mr Renato Cappelli.
