Centenario AM: 1st May 2023 final training before the start of the 2023 PAN display season

To add splendour to the start of the 2023 aerobatic season, the Frecce Tricolori have received the prestigious Guinness World Record (GWR) recognition

The Centenary of the Italian Air Force is a great opportunity to tell our story, make our ideals known and showcase our valuable capabilities at the service of the community and the Institutions. There are, and will continue to be, many events that the Air Force is organising to be “with people, among people, for people”, and among these could not be missed the National Acrobatic Patrol.

One of the symbols of national unity, the world-famous tricolour pride, this year received the prestigious Guinness World Record with the following reasoning: The most jet aircraft in a military aerobatic display team is 10, achieved by the Italian Air Force (Italy), in Rimini, Italy, on 18 June 2022 (https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/710600-most-jet-aircraft-in-a-military-aerobatic-display-team)

The award was presented to the Italian Air Force during the Centenary celebrations held in Piazza del Popolo in Rome during the Air Force Experience last March.

The activity of the Frecce Tricolori this year is only just beginning, in fact, with the event “AM thanks Italy”, the PAN will carry out a flypast over every regional capital with the aim of thanking all Italian citizens who have served and supported the Armed Force throughout these one hundred years of history. Ahead of the imminent start of the 2023 aerobatic season, from May to November, the Italian Air Force has planned for the Frecce Tricolori to be present at at least one event/air show in every Italian region.

In fact, on the 1st of May there will be, as usual, the final training session of the PAN before the official start of the new 2023 aerobatic season, perhaps the most iconic ever, being that of the celebrations for the Centenary of the Italian Air Force.

For the occasion, and to pay homage to the Armed Force in this centenary of history, the 10 MB339PAN aircraft will be sporting a new livery. New liveries inspired by the coat of arms of the Italian Air Force and, in particular, the emblems of the four squadrons that distinguished themselves during the First World War for skill, courage and heroism. There will be six new liveries, four representing the squadrons and two the logo created for the Centenary.
