At the Naval Academy in Livorno, the first steps were taken by the students of the first founding course of the regular courses of the Aeronautical Academy, the Aquila Course.
It was the November 5, 1923 when the foundation was established Regia Aeronautica Academy, Just a few months after the birth of the Royal Air Force. It found accommodation right at the Naval Academy in Livorno, awaiting the move to the autonomous seat of the Bourbon-style Villa Vanvitelli in Caserta, which was inaugurated on December 10, 1926. Like those students almost a century ago, on October 28 men and women of successive generations The Aquila III, Aquila IV, Aquila V and Aquila VI courses were able to take the same corridors, visit the same venues, and breathe in the highly evocative and evocative atmosphere of those early days.
The memory of the young cadets in black and white has shed new light on the past and provided opportunities for all rally participants to reflect on the’importance of connection with one's historical roots, on the core values of military, moral and professional training of yesterday and today, giving strength to the continuity and the bond that unites the different generations, making the spirit of cohesion more solid.
On October 29, the rally then affected the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa. The city of Pisa has given the opportunity to rallyists to visit its main cultural attractions; the 46th Brigade has allowed them to experience a moment of reflection for all the Fallen of the Aquila courses, through the laying of a wreath at the monument dedicated to the Fallen of the “Lyra 41”. A special thought was also given to Captain pilot Gianluca Minichino and Captain pilot Salvatore Bidello, Both belonged to the Aquila V course, which on November 23, 2009 lost their lives during an training mission on the C-130 “Lyra 41” aircraft.
