Tuesday 18 November, at the 115th Remote Radar Squadron of Capo Mele (Savona), The change of command ceremony for the Squadron took place between Lieutenant Pietro Gaspare Cacciola Outgoing commander, and the Lieutenant Caterina Zagaglia, Incoming Commander.
The event, chaired by Commander of the 4th Telecommunications and DA/AV Systems Brigade of Borgo Piave, Brigadier General Giacomo Ghiglierio, the participation of the main military, civil and religious authorities of the territory was observed, in addition to the Air Force Association and the other Armed Forces, who further honoured the ceremony with their presence.
In his farewell speech, the Lieutenant Cacciola, who leaves the command of the Squadron after two years, recounted the most significant moments and achievements during his tenure. He then addressed the incoming Commander, offering her best wishes for her challenging role, and finally, his personnel:“...women and men of the 115th Remote Radar Squadron, always remember that each of you is a fundamental element of the great Defence system, that the contribution of each of us intertwines with that of other institutional players, forming a solid fabric to protect our country with dedication and sacrifice, upholding the prestige and honour of the Armed Force and our flag.
It Lieutenant Zagaglia she thanked the Superior Authorities for the trust placed in her, stressing that “…assuming this Command means taking on an important legacy and looking ahead with determination to ensure the surveillance and defence of national airspace, with readiness, precision, and a spirit of service.”.
It General Ghiglierio, in his speech, expressed his sincere appreciation for the work carried out by the outgoing Commander: “Congratulations Pietro, you've done an excellent job. These compliments are to be shared with your staff, because while it's true that you were their guide, it's equally true that they, with competence, passion and professionalism, enabled you to achieve all the results you've listed.”. Addressing the incoming Commander, she wished them a period of command “...rewarding from a human and professional point of view”, remembering that, “…no command period is the same as the previous one and nothing should be taken for granted. You will find yourself operating in a consolidated and structured environment, in a motivated and cohesive Squadron: continue the work started by your predecessor, continuity, in this world characterised by frequent and rapid changes, is fundamental to achieving what you rightly defined as our adaptability in an era of technological transformations and complex operational scenarios.”
The 115ª Remote Radar Squadron of Capo Mele is subordinate to 4th Telecommunications and Systems Brigade for D.A./A.V. in Borgo Piave, the main structure of 3Logistics Command Division. The Department fulfils its institutional duties of maintaining the operational efficiency of the National/NATO Air Defence radar systems and the communications systems provided.
