Lieutenant Colonel Vincenzo Repici succeeded Lieutenant Colonel Pier Luigi Del Vecchio on Tuesday, July 31, at the US Air Force Sheppard Air Base in Texas (USA), the headquarters of the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) international program. The handover ceremony of the Air Force Representative (RAMi) took place between Lieutenant Colonel Pier Luigi Del Vecchio, outgoing commander, and Lieutenant Colonel Vincenzo Repici, incoming commander. Colonel (USAF) Lendy Renegar, Commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing, the squadron where the ENJJPT program operates, a multinational entity composed of 14 nations, attended the ceremony. The two Italian Commanders have indeed alternated not only in the position of Commander of the Italian Division, but also in the function of Italian Senior National Representative, i.e. representative of the Air Force in the ENJJPT program and reference figure for all Italian personnel employed therein. In his farewell speech, Lieutenant Colonel Del Vecchio recalled the most important moments of his four years of command and the important objectives achieved by the Division in the context of the ENJJPT, in line with the mission and vision of the Armed Forces and the Command of the Air Force Schools. He also highlighted the professionalism and vital contribution to the training of the Italian personnel, emphasizing the synergy and cooperation between the nations and the constant commitment of the Italian participants who, in this training program for military pilots, unique in the world, are taking the first important steps towards obtaining the military pilot certificate.
Lieutenant Colonel Repici, presenting himself to the international team, thanked the higher authorities for the trust placed in him by assigning him the prestigious assignment; he then confirmed the commitment of the Air Force Representation to ensure its contribution to the ENJJPT program. He also thanked Lieutenant Colonel Del Vecchio for his work and expressed his enthusiasm for the important assignment he has just assumed. The RAMi at Sheppard AFB is dependent on the AM Command School of the 3rd Air Region of Bari. Established in 1984, its mission is to represent the Air Force within the ENJJPT program, contributing to the training of young pilots from all the Nations participating in the program and of Italian Officers who, after completing the Air Academy, continue their flight training in a particularly selective and competitive international environment.
