Change of Command at the Logistic Command's Health Service

Friday 24 October, in the Hall of Heroes at Palazzo Aeronautica, in the presence of Air Force Logistics Commander, Air Force General Achille Fernando Cazzaniga, the handover ceremony took place between the Chief Inspector Fabio Morgagni and the Brigadier General Emanuele Garzia, new Head of the Health Service of the Italian Air Force Logistics Command.

Present at the ceremony: the Commander of the Air Force Schools, Air Force General Francesco Vestito, the Chief of Staff of the Carabinieri General Command, Army General Andrea Taurelli Salimbeni, the Commander of Army Health and Veterinary Services, Major General Michele Tirico, the Chief of the General Office for Legal Affairs, Division General Rosario Castello, the Episcopal Vicar for the Air Force, Father Antonio Coppola, Heads of Divisions and Services of the Logistic Command, a representation of Health Service personnel, families and guests of the outgoing and incoming Commanders.

It Gen. Isp. Morgagni, in his welcome speech, defined his A period of command rich in profound innovations and unique events, including the anniversary of the Centenary of the Medical Branch of the Italian Air Force. He then mentioned the activities successfully carried out by the Health Service, from the Artemis Mission 4554 on Monte Rosa to support events related to the Jubilee and papal ceremonies, but without ever forgetting the scale and quality of the ordinary, forensic, welfare, and scientific work, carried out daily by the men and women of the Service, to whom he expressed his personal thanks.“The word that will characterise our future is change.” He said, “Change is represented by altered geopolitical scenarios, new technologies, innovations in regulation, and the emergence of new health or security threats. We must adapt to change, with the speed and flexibility that makes our Armed Forces unique, so that it represents not a hindrance, but an opportunity.”.

General Garzia he thanked the Authorities for entrusting him with such a prestigious role and began his speech by extending a special thought to his predecessor, highlighting the qualities of coherence, loyalty, and preparedness that have characterised their command. He then addressed The evolution of military medicine, ensuring that “It will be essential to ensure synergy with the other Armed Forces, as well as with the territory, national health, research and academic institutions to offer the most characteristic expertise of the Italian Air Force: biocontainment, medical transport, organ transport, and aerospace medicine.”In this context, studies conducted in extreme atmospheric and space flight environments represent the perfect testing ground for promoting training, professional development, scientific production, and patent development, in order to achieve tangible results through the synergistic commitment of all components of the Health Service.

Then the Gen. S.A. Cazzaniga, who, in remembering the ethical, moral and professional values of the women and men in blue, highlighted the activities carried out with passion and selflessness by the National Health Service, precisely on the occasion of its centenary. He emphasised the need to continue on the path taken, consolidating and improving the results achieved.

It Air Force Medical Service It is tasked with ensuring healthcare support in the fields of forensic and occupational medicine, prevention, care and rehabilitation, aeromedical safety, and the supply of medical materials. This applies to all AM personnel and other entitled individuals (personnel from other armed forces or institutions), both domestically and abroad. It is also technically responsible for the training and deployment of AM medical personnel. Its mission is to provide assistance to Armed Force personnel to ensure they are always in optimal psychophysical condition, ready to carry out the duties for which the Air Force and the country call upon them.
