On Thursday 20th January, Col. Tomada handed over command of the Air Space Control Training Unit to Col. Loconsole, in the presence of Gen. Ferro. In his speech, General Ferro thanked Colonel Tomada for his work and noted how the sense of belonging among RACSA personnel—which should characterise every single member of the Armed Forces—has enabled the Unit to achieve its assigned objectives. He also wished to express his strong appreciation for the work carried out by Air Space Controllers in operations conducted by the Italian Air Force, both on national territory and in various operational theatres. In his farewell speech, Colonel Tomada highlighted how, thanks to the professionalism and motivation of the personnel, the Unit managed to run a total of 44 courses in two years, qualifying more than 500 officers and non-commissioned officers from the Italian and foreign armed forces.
Colonel Tomada is leaving his post to take up the role of Head of the CIS (Communication and Information Systems) and Info Technology Office, within the Support and Resource Management Department of the Air Squad Command in Rome. RACSA has also provided its valuable contribution to institutional bodies outside the Armed Forces, such as the Department of Civil Protection, the State Police and ENAV SpA.
