The ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 24, at the 2nd Group of Vehicle Maintenance, handover between Colonel Giorgio Agostini, outgoing Commander, and the Lieutenant Colonel Riccardo Aloisi, substitute. Presided by the Commander of the Fiumicino Technical Supply Center, Colonel Massimo Cionfrini, The event was attended by the Prefect, Dr. Rinaldo Argentieri, the Mayor, Dr. Gianluca Zattini, the Bishop of the Diocese of Forlì-Bertinoro, Mons. Livio Corazza, and various political, civil and military authorities from the Romagna capital.

“It was an honor and a privilege for me to be in charge of a historical, highly technical, specialized, and professional organization.”. With these words, Colonel Giorgio Agostini, on his last day of service in the Armed Forces, described his experience as Commander at the Forlì-based agency.

“Always be proud of who you are and what you do – he continued to address the staff of the Agency – be proud of the unique abilities that distinguish the 2nd Group; you are a small cog in a fantastic mechanism called the Air Force.”.

In drawing up a balance sheet of the objectives achieved over the past three years, Colonel Agostini emphasized the commemorative events promoted on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Air Force. Centenary of the Air Force, and on the commitment made by the staff of the Authority during the’flood which last year hit the’Emilia-Romagna. “The aid to the affected populations was not dictated solely by a sense of solidarity – Colonel Agostini emphasized – but also from the deep bond that, for 86 years now, has linked the 2nd G.M.A. to the Forlì community”. 

Lieutenant Colonel Riccardo Aloisi, upon assuming the position of Commander of the 2nd G.M.A., thanked the Higher Authorities and the Air Force for their support. the trust granted to him. “It is a prestigious opportunity that will require great commitment and determination – stated – but which, at the same time, will contribute to enriching my professional experience gained both domestically and abroad”. After expressing his gratitude and appreciation to Colonel Agostini, he addressed the staff of the Group, assuring them of his commitment and dedication, and asking them to continue working together, with passion and diligence.

Finally, the Commander of the Technical Supplies Centre, Colonel Massimo Cionfrini, who first thanked the authorities present, paying a fitting tribute to Sail of the City of Forlì, decorated with the Silver Medal for Military Valor.

Located under the control of the Fiumicino Technical Equipment Center, the 2nd G.M.A. performs extraordinary third-level maintenance on the vehicles of high operational importance for the Armed Forces, as well as on the generators and materials used at the Air Terminal Operations Center, both at the headquarters and in the Operational Theatres outside the national borders.
