NATO: change of command at the Deployable Air Command and Control Centre (DACCC)

In recent days, in the presence of the General James B. Hecker, commander of the’Allied Air Command in Ramstein (Germany) and of Air Force General. Luca Goretti, Chief of Staff of the’Italian Air Force, took place at the Aerospace Operations Command (Certificate of Analysis) in Poggio Renatico, the ceremony for the change of command of the DACCC between the Major General of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, Denny Traas, and Air Division General Luca Maineri, formerly Commander of COA.

In greeting the authorities and guests present, General Hecker highlighted the primary role played by DACCC under the command of General Traas, as “vital resource of the Atlantic Alliance and the 32 Nations that are part of it, as well as a primary element within the scope of deployable Air Command and Control activities”General Hecker also highlighted the operational use made by the DACCC in support of the Turkish earthquake, during the Ramstein Flag exercises and in protection of NATO's eastern borders. At the end of his speech, General Hecker, wishing the new commander the best, expressed his certainty that “the DACCC, thanks to the professional experience gained by General Maineri throughout his career, could not be in better hands”.

In his farewell speech, General Traas expressed his gratitude to the authorities present for the support provided to him during his tenure, emphasising how his “The command experience will remain indelible in his memory due to the challenges and commitments faced during a particularly crucial period like the current one.”. “The DACCC”, the outgoing Commander continued,“He played a key role within NATO, having been deployed, during his period of command, with the 75% on redeployments in support of operational and training activities”.

General Maineri, in his inauguration speech, highlighted: “The DACCC is a unique force projection tool, and it has consistently demonstrated its versatility with excellence, both in rapid deployments to support NATO and in its crucial role for training personnel involved in air operations planning.”.
