The leadership of the Operations Office has also changed in context. The ceremony, presided over by Colonel Leonardo Barone, Commander of the 72nd Wing, was attended by a strong representation of civilian and military personnel from the Department, student attendees, some guests, personnel family members and members of the Arma Aeronautica Association, Frosinone section, who, with their constant presence, attest to the strong bond that links the Wing to retired personnel. In his farewell speech, the outgoing Commander highlighted the privilege he had in commanding the 208th Flight Group. He thanked the Group's personnel for their constant support and for the important results achieved, remembering that “Bringing new pilots to life is a continuous challenge, a commitment that, although it generates a lot of personal satisfaction and fulfilment, does not end with landing, but continues and requires preparation, commitment and sometimes sacrifice.”. The outgoing Commander then stressed that, during his period of command, the 208th Flying Group and the 72nd Wing had to face two new challenges represented by the installation of the TH500B Helicopter Flight Simulator and the introduction of the new UH139 Helicopters into the operational fleet. The outgoing Commander finally thanked Colonel Barone for the autonomy granted to him, the constant clarity of direction, and the renewed trust in entrusting him with the role of Head of Operations Office of the 72nd Wing.
