A Falcon 900-Easy aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino (Rome) transported a patient on the organ transplant waiting list from Brindisi to Orio al Serio. The aircraft, a Falcon 900-Easy, having arrived in the early hours of the morning at the Brindisi Airport Detachment, after embarking the patient, departed at 07:20 for the airport of Orio al Serio (BG).
The patient, accompanied by a family member, upon arriving at the Bergamo airport was immediately transferred to the Ospedali Riuniti Hospital of Bergamo, to undergo the delicate surgery.
The aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino (Rome) are used for state transport and public utility missions, such as emergency medical transport for the sick, severely traumatised patients and organs for transplants, as well as operations to assist people in at-risk situations. Given the imminent danger to the lives of the people being transported, the latter is an activity that requires an adequate level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. Brindisi airport is often used for these types of flights as it is strategically close to the major hospital facilities in the southern Salento area.
