A young non-EU citizen in imminent danger of life was transported urgently from Brindisi to Bologna
The patient, assisted during the flight by the medical staff of the “Antonio Perrino” hospital in Brindisi, which arrived in the Emilia region capital, was immediately transferred to the “Sant’Orsola” hospital in Bologna, to undergo a delicate operation. The aircraft of the 31st Flight of Ciampino (Rome) are used for state transport and for public utility missions, such as the emergency medical transport of sick people, seriously injured people and organs for transplantation, as well as for interventions in favor of people in situations of risk. This latter activity, given the imminent life-threatening danger of the people transported, requires an adequate level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. The Brindisi airport is often used for these types of flights because it is strategically close to the major hospital facilities in the southern Salento region.
