On Thursday 9 June, at the Olympic Sports Centre of the Army, the German Sports Badge (Deutsches Sportabzeichen) was awarded to four members of the Re.S.I.A. The approximately 60 participants had to complete five groups of sporting tests, including swimming, jumping, sprinting, shot put, and middle-distance running. The ‘Deutsches Sportabzeichen’ (DSA) holds the status of an Order and Honour of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the tests are used by the German Armed Forces to assess/select their personnel as they summarise the athletic qualities that a soldier must possess. The four recipients of the badge are Captain Francesco Passaniti, Captain Simone Capezzone, Lieutenant Paolo Maliziola, and Marshal 1st Class Vincenzo Santonocito.
