Lieutenant Davide Borghi and Lieutenant Simon Pietro Zoppè have completed the complex training process at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. The two officers were celebrated by all the base personnel and their families, who travelled from Italy, in the exclusive setting of the Wellington Center in Wichita Falls.
Guests of honour for the evening were Colonel Flavio Danielis, Air Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Washington, and Colonel Dieter E. Bareihs, Commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing—namely the Wing responsible for the ENJJPT Programme—who were invited by Lieutenant Colonel Michele Minonne, Head of the Italian Air Force Representative Office (RAMI) at Sheppard.
During the visit, Colonel Danielis noted the high quality of training provided by the ENJJPT programme, under which Italy, alongside the United States and Germany, is among the countries that contribute the most through instructor pilots, trainee officers and innovative ideas for the development of the programme. Upon signing the unit's Roll of Honour, Colonel Danielis summarised his appreciation by writing: “[...] with sincere gratitude and admiration for the prestige you continually bring to Italy“.
Lieutenant Colonel Minonne, also on behalf of Air Division General Vitantonio Cormio, Commander of the AM Schools/3rd R.A., expressed to the newly qualified pilots his well-deserved congratulations for the high level of commitment shown, along with best wishes for success in the continuation of their careers at the operational units.
