From 4 to 8 May, the’Italian Air Force participated in Brave Beduin 2025, a joint and multinational exercise dedicated to the operational response to C.B.R.N. – Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear – threats, which took place in Skive, Denmark, at the C.B.R.N. Area Control Center Denmark.

Now in its 46th edition, the activity involved 19 member countries NATO within the context of strategic cooperation to strengthen interoperability and standardisation of technical-operational procedures in the C.B.R.N. field.

The training objective of the exercise was to consolidate Warning & Reporting capabilities, as stipulated by NATO manual ATP-45. Operators worked in simulated data collection and management environments, processing complex scenarios in real-time, thanks to the use of dedicated software for the evaluation and dissemination of operational information.

The Air Force took part in the activity with over 30 highly qualified specialists, from various branches of the Armed Force, including the 3rd Wing of Villafranca (VR), a centre of excellence for CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) support and logistics capabilities. As part of inter-force integration, 9 operators from the Royal Navy, actively contributing to the development of training activities.

Each day of the exercise featured independent scenarios, designed to test response speed, the effectiveness of information flows, and cooperation with other participating countries. The simulations were conceived to induce operational stress and assess the operators' ability to react within timescales compatible with decision-making, while maintaining efficiency and self-control.

The Air Force's participation in Brave Beduin 2025 is part of the Armed Force's broader commitment to advanced C.B.R.N. training and education, consolidating its presence in major NATO and European operations. A strategic capability that contributes concretely to collective defence and international security, in full synergy with the other Armed Forces and Allied partners.
