A Falcon 900 of the 31st Air Wing of the Italian Air Force intervened immediately. The flight of a Falcon 900 of the 31st Air Wing of the Italian Air Force with a one-and-a-half-year-old child on board, in imminent danger of life due to a serious medical condition, has recently concluded at Ciampino Airport. The patient, admitted to the Pediatric Cardiology Center Mediterraneo of the San Vincenzo Hospital in Taormina, was urgently transported from the Catania airport to Rome-Ciampino airport to reach the pediatric hospital Bambino Gesù in Rome as the final destination. The emergency medical transport was requested by the Prefectural Authority of Messina from the Situation Room of the Air Force Command, the operational room of the Air Force that has among its tasks the organization and management – in coordination with Prefectures, Hospitals and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – of this type of transport throughout the national territory, and which then gave the order to take off one of the ready-to-fly aircraft at the Italian bases, in this case a Falcon 900 of the 31st Flight of Ciampino. The medical transport crews and aircraft of the Air Force are ready day and night to ensure, where requested and deemed necessary for reasons of urgency, the medical transport of people in imminent danger of life. Every year there are thousands of flight hours performed by the aircraft of the 31st Flight of Ciampino, by the 14th Flight of Pratica di Mare and by the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, units always on the front line in case of emergency.
