The personnel took part in the “Jawtex 2014” exercise. The Boeing KC-767A, configured in the “combi” (passenger/cargo) layout, arrived in Brindisi in the late afternoon and, after completing the unloading of the equipment and the disembarkation of the personnel, took off immediately afterwards for the military airport of Pratica di Mare (Rome).
The personnel of the Detachment carried out the unloading of materials and the disembarkation of passengers at the Air Terminal Operation Center (ATOC) area of the Unit, also making use of the equipment made available by the airport management company as part of the cooperation agreement signed on 10 November between the Salento-based Unit and Società Aeroporti di Puglia, which provides airport services at Brindisi “Papola Casale” airport, allowing AdP to increase its operational capacity by having a larger parking area available for aircraft in transit at the airport.
The Detachment, in turn, will achieve benefits in terms of cost containment by making use of the supply of materials and equipment for the “handling” service.
