The new President, Chief of Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers and Junior Ranks, has been elected. The Chief of Staff of the Air Force was present at the ceremony.
took place on Friday 14 April, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Luca Goretti, and in the presence of War flag of the Italian Air Force, the handover of duties in the role of President Chief of Non-Commissioned Officers, Graduates and Enlisted Personnel between the outgoing 1st Lieutenant Giuseppe Giannetti and the incoming 1st Lieutenant Mario Bonaventura.
I1st Lieutenant Giuseppe Giannetti has made a decisive contribution to the growth and constant research of new training and teaching themes in order to foster and implement the skills of the Presidents of A.M. and the categories they represent.
I1st Lieutenant Mario Bonaventura, who serves at the 3rd Aircraft and Armament Maintenance Department in Treviso (TV), in carrying out his delicate duty, will see him as a point of reference for all personnel belonging to the Non-Commissioned Officers, Corporals and Privates category, as well as in support of the Armed Force's Top Authority, both nationally and internationally.
The charge of President Chief SGMT The Air Force's President was established in 2016. He is selected from the current Presidents of the various Force Commands and is directly appointed by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. In addition to being the link between the Top Authority and the represented personnel, the Chief President is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Presidents operating within the Air Force Commands, as well as being a point of reference for international and inter-force exchange relations. The designation must take into account the overall qualities of the chosen military personnel, with particular reference to charisma, training, experience, competence, ability and, possibly, knowledge of the English language. He acts as an advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force on matters of human and social promotion for Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers and Other Ranks throughout the entire Armed Force; he coordinates the activities of the Presidents of the Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers and Other Ranks of the Force Commands; he strives to enhance the morale, sense of belonging and affection towards the Air Force among the personnel he represents; he may be consulted by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force regarding possible employment solutions for Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers and Other Ranks within the Armed Force, in relation to any individual and/or collective issues; he is the element responsible for the exchange of experiences, studies or programmes concerning figures analogous to his own, at inter-force and international level; he may attend Air Force representation events, both domestically and abroad, with the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. The figure of the Chief President of the Non-Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers and Other Ranks is officially included in Directive SMA – 1st Department – Organisation and Personnel OD-1.
