Colonel Stefano Gioia takes over from Colonel Renato Vella On Wednesday 10 June, the handover ceremony took place at the 1st AM Genio Regiment in Villafranca di Verona between Colonel Renato Vella, the outgoing Commander, and Colonel Stefano Gioia, the incoming Commander. The 1st AM Genio Regiment, under the Logistics Command's Infrastructure Service, is responsible for studies, investigations, designs, contracts, and execution of works necessary to ensure the availability and efficiency of infrastructure used by the Air Force. Works are carried out through contracts with external companies or directly managed by military and civilian personnel from the 27th Field Genio Group. The Regiment provides second-level maintenance for on-site and off-site generator sets.
From the 1st Engineer Department, in addition to the aforementioned Field Engineer Group, are the Detached Technical Services for Infrastructure at Cameri, Ghedi, Istrana and Poggio Renatico, and the Off-Site Works Services at Parma, Piacenza, Aviano and Cervia.
