“Together for the Future” is the slogan for the commitment of Frecciarossa and the Italian Air Force towards increasingly widespread and sustainable connectivity. The meeting that preceded the train's departure was attended by Maria Luisa Grilletta, Director of Industrial Planning at Trenitalia, Air Force General Giandomenico Taricco, and Colonel Walter Villadei, an astronaut with the Italian Air Force.
The international crew of Axiom Mission 3 boarded the Frecciarossa, the High-Speed Train Trenitalia (FS Group), heading towards Post Flight Tour, Wednesday, 9 October at Rome Termini Station.
Before the train's departure, a meeting was held between the Industrial Planning Director, Trenitalia, Maria Luisa Grilletta, the Air Force General Giandomenico Taricco, Commander of the Rome Air Force Command (COMAER), and the’Colonel Walter Villadei, to highlight the common objectives of Frecciarossa and the Air Force.
Objectives that are summarised in the claim “Together for the future”: a message that places at its centre the commitment of the two entities towards an ever more widespread connection, capable of overcoming all borders, and ever more sustainable.
For this reason, the international crew of Axiom Mission 3 He chose the train, a mode of transport Green par excellence, for its Post Flight Tour. The Frecciarossa 1000, in fact, is the world’s first high-speed train to have obtained an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) based on a thorough life-cycle assessment. Every detail, from the lightweight alloys used in its construction to the new electric motors that power it, has been designed to minimise energy consumption: up to 30% less than previous-generation high-speed trains. Furthermore, the new Frecciarossa 1000 trains will be even more sustainable: the Recyclability The proportion of recycled materials in its construction will reach 97.1% (compared with 94% in the current model), reflecting a commitment to ongoing research, innovation and a focus on the future. Frecciarossa, together with the Frecce trains and FRECCIALink buses, forms part of a network of over 270 daily services that sustainably connects more than 150 destinations across the Italian peninsula.
Ax-3 mission by Axiom Space has brought to International Space Station Colonel Walter Villadei, who spent 21 days in orbit, conducted numerous and important scientific experiments that have allowed the entire Country System to increase scientific, technological, and operational expertise related to human space activities. With Colonel Villadei's participation in the Ax-3 mission, Italy – with the Air Force – has confirmed its absolute leading role in the new spatial domain. This particular space activity represents a new model, a mission guided by Ministry of Defence, with the Air Force which together with the’Italian Space Agency it has brought together various entities from the scientific community, as well as the industrial world, including those not belonging to the traditional Defence and Aerospace supply chain, which represent a huge opportunity for New Space Economy.
