The basis of the agreement is the synergistic pursuit of common goals between the Air Force and the Association, in the broader spirit of genuine collaboration and the dissemination of aeronautical tradition.
It was signed on Thursday, April 18, in the historic halls of Aeronautica Palace (Rome), the institutional headquarters of the Armed Forces Memorandum of Understanding between the Air Force and the’Association of the Air Force (AAA) – Aviators of Italy – National Presidency.
Represented by Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti and from President Pro Tempore of the AAA, Air Force General (retired) Giulio Mainini, The Protocol, which builds on an existing relationship that has existed for years, becomes the document to be referred to for all future technical relationships involving the two parties and formalizes the general guidelines for all future collaboration activities, in mutual respect of the requirements of the Air Force institution and those of the associative organizations.
Among the obligations of the’Association Disciplined by the Agreement, in consideration of the priority operational and institutional tasks of the Air Force, there is the organization of military culture courses, cultural events such as painting and model aircraft exhibitions, theatrical and musical events open to the public, mentoring activities and assistance for new staff members, as well as for the families of military personnel employed for long periods in Operations Outside National Borders, as well as the development, promotion and dissemination of the Air Force’s image through conferences, studies, round tables and information desks on topics of specific interest to citizens.
In order to facilitate the provision of these services to the Air Force, to the personnel employed by it and to the citizens interested in getting to know the Blue Army more closely, the Protocol also describes the commitment that the Armed Forces take towards the Association, by providing logistical support and making available, where available within the individual military units, the use of appropriate premises – in accordance with the principle of economic equivalence or under specific concession contracts.
The signing of the Protocol therefore underlines the mutual interest of the involved parties in disseminating, especially among the younger generations, an existential model based on noble principles such as’Ethics, the Solidarity, the Tradition and the Patria; To develop “military aeronautical thinking” in accordance with the evolutionary lines of technological progress in the field of aircraft, in synergy with the cultural, political and industrial world; to contribute to the preservation of the historical memory, values and culture of the Air Force, strengthening the link between the past, present and future.
The Air Force has always promoted relationships of collaboration and exchange with public and private institutions and with Associations with similar objectives, such as: spreading the tradition of aeronautics, Operational philosophy, historical and technical culture. The use of the experiential and professional input of personnel on leave or in retirement who are members of the Arma Aeronautica Association is therefore a valuable tool for the pursuit of common objectives, in the primary interest of enhancing the institutional tasks of the Armed Forces and their capabilities at the service of the country.
