The airport detachment hosted the students of the Paritaria Scuola dell’Infanzia “Santi Angeli” of San Vito dei Normanni and of Quality Schools International of Brindisi. The little ones from “Santi Angeli”, engaged in the realization of the project “Traveling by air: a long journey into space”Since they are more knowledgeable than the “QSI” team, which in their training plan studies meteorology, the behavior of predatory animals and the forces at work, they were received by the Commander of the Salento detachment, Colonel Andrea Aiello, who entertained the little guests by explaining the institutional tasks of the Armed Forces and the activities carried out at the Department. Subsequently, the children watched a film produced by the Air Force General Staff, followed by a visit to the control tower, the radar room and the meteorological station, where the staff answered all their questions. The visit to the beautiful raptor specimens, guided by the airport falconer, was the most exciting moment for the children, who were also informed about the importance of the role played by the falconry service in ensuring air safety. At the end of the visit, the little visitors were presented with some gadgets that were very popular and well-received.
The Brindisi detachment provides support for the “peacekeeping” operations of the United Nations Global Service Center (UNGSC) and the “humanitarian” operations of the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD). It also ensures 24/7 air navigation services for civil aviation and assistance to NATO countries’ transit aircraft. The children of the QSIal detachment express their gratitude
