Concluding ceremonies for agreements signed by the Air Force with the ’A. Pacinotti“ and ”A. Righi“ Higher Secondary Schools at the SVAM in Taranto. On Tuesday 29/05/2018, at the Air Force Volunteer School (SVAM) in Taranto, the ceremonies were held to celebrate the conclusion of the School-Work Alternation Projects that saw the Air Force training body collaborate with the ”A. PACINOTTI’ and “A. RIGHI” Higher Secondary Schools.
The agreements, signed at the beginning of the school year with the aim of making the education of young Taranto students more effective, have enabled significant interaction between institutions that shared a deep sense of educational and social responsibility on the occasion, in accordance with Law no. 107 of 2015 (La Buona Scuola). The students involved in the projects, with the support of military personnel and under the supervision of the School's Directorate of Studies, have been able to experience real work activities, confronting themselves concretely with the world of work.
The ceremonies took place in the “Icaro” Hall of the SVAM, in the presence of the Commander, Colonel Fabio DEZI, the Headteacher of I.I.S.S. “A. PACINOTTI”, Professor Vito Giuseppe LEOPARDO, the Headteacher of I.I.S.S. A. RIGHI, Professor Cosimo Damiano MALVANI, together with the teachers and pupils involved in the implementation of the projects in question.
During the ceremonies, the internal Tutors from the educational institutions presented the final reports and activities of their respective projects.
Specifically, 80 computer science students from the third year at “PACINOTTI” created an optical fibre computer network capable of interfacing with the existing internal network in the Department, while students from “RIGHI” I.I.S.S. realised 2 distinct projects:
-in the first instance, 37 boys from the fifth year classes specialising in aeronautical construction carried out the restoration of parts of a vintage aircraft, the T-6 Texan;
In the second, computer science-focused classes produced a multimedia book on the long history of the Italian Air Force in the city of Taranto.
Furthermore, all pupils involved will be given a diploma relating to the safety training course for workers – “general module” which the School had carried out for the participants pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 81/2008.
The results of the activities carried out have highlighted the synergy between SVAM and the Taranto school community, demonstrating the importance of promoting cultural initiatives aimed at the growth of young people.
The SVAM is the only national training and instruction centre that provides basic military and moral training for enlisted personnel destined to serve in the Italian Air Force, as well as the relevant specific professional instruction according to the Mission and guidelines indicated by the Air Force Schools Command/3rd Air Region.
Since its establishment in 2004, the Tarantino department has provided training and instruction for 10,345 VFP1 personnel, 2,021 VFP4 personnel and 6,656 VTSP personnel; furthermore, it has provided support for the selection of 18,898 candidates for the public VFP1 competition.
