The 1st Session of Harmonization and Standardization of C27J Instructors took place at the International Training Centre (ITC) from December 3 to 7, 2018. Within the framework of the “European C27J Spartan Cooperation”, which consists of 5 European nations (Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania and Slovakia), the 1st Session of Harmonization and Standardization of C27J Instructors was held at the International Training Centre (ITC) of the 46th Air Brigade. This cooperation is part of the European Defense Agency (EDA) activities related to transport assets, with the aim of promoting the interoperability of the C27J “Spartan” in an international context, as well as promoting increasingly effective solutions for maintaining the operational efficiency of the aircraft and training crews and maintainers through the standardization of training programs and teaching methodologies for the pilots of the twin-engine tactical transport aircraft. The activity represents a further step in the development of “Spartan Cooperation” and strengthens the leadership of the Italian Air Force and the International Training Centre of the 46th Air Brigade in the field of transport, thanks to the achievement of high training standards. The 46th Air Brigade is a branch that depends on the Air Force Command for its operations through the Support and Special Forces Command, which carries out a wide range of missions in the field of air transport, both of a purely military nature – with the participation in all Operational Theatres where the Italian Armed Forces are present – and in collaboration with civil agencies of the State (the so-called Dual Use), such as in the case of humanitarian aid, evacuations of populations in difficulty and interventions in the event of natural disasters.
