The members of the Arma Aeronautica-Sezione Sud Pontino of Formia spent an intense day at the Base of Latina. The members were received by Colonel Salvatore Romeo, Commander of the 70th Stormo “Graziani”, and attended the briefing given by a flight instructor on the mission and the organization of the Flight School, with particular reference to the training of future military pilots and the current training programs.
Subsequently, the group visited the flight simulator room, the meteorological sections, and the air traffic control, visiting the control tower and the fire control center. Finally, at the aircraft efficiency group, the guests got a hands-on experience with the Aermacchi SF-260EA aircraft and, on the adjacent parking lot of the hangar, immortalized the day with a group photo.
This has allowed the association’s members to experience up close the work activities that take place daily in a division of the Air Force, appreciating the professionalism of the men and women who work at the 70th Air Wing.
The visit also allowed the highlight the spirit of cooperation that has always characterized the relationships between the staff in service and those in retirement.
At the end, there was the traditional exchange of souvenirs between Colonel Romeo and the President of the Section, as a confirmation of the intense day spent at the Pontine Flight School. On that occasion, the President thanked the Commander and his collaborators for the welcome received.
For over fifty years, the Pontina Flight School has been selecting and training future pilots for the Italian Air Force, other Armed Forces and Armed Bodies of the State, as well as for some foreign countries.
