The lifeless bodies of the pilots of the T-260B aircraft of the 70th Wing, which crashed this morning, have unfortunately been discovered by ground rescue teams near some wreckage. Colonel Simone Mettini, instructor and Commander of the 70th Wing of Latina, and student pilot Lorenzo Nucheli have lost their lives. The aircraft was engaged in a training mission when, for reasons yet to be determined, it crashed to the ground. The impact occurred in a wooded area of the Circeo National Park.
The news was communicated to the families, to whom the Head of the Air Force Staff, Air Squadron General Antonio Conserva, on behalf of the entire Armed Force, expresses his deep sympathy and condolences.
