A child, in imminent danger of death, travelled on board an aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Air Force

Last night, an emergency medical transport of a 4-year-old child from Lamezia Terme to Ciampino concluded, carried out with an Air Force G650 aircraft.
The child, in imminent danger of death, needed to be urgently transferred from the Civil Hospital of Vibo Valentia to the Bambino Gesù Hospital.
Specifically, the child travelled within the aircraft, monitored and assisted by a medical team.
This type of community welfare activity is one of the institutional tasks carried out by the Air Force. The life-saving flight was activated, at the request of the Prefecture of Vibo Valentia, by the Operations Room of the Air Force Command of the Air Squad Command of Milan, which immediately involved the 31st Wing, one of the Units that carries out operational readiness service for these types of missions.
After all the necessary procedures were carried out by the military crew, the aircraft took off from Ciampino Airport and landed at Lamezia, where the child was immediately boarded onto the aircraft for urgent transport. After landing at Ciampino Airport, which occurred after 8 PM, the ambulance proceeded to the Bambino Gesù Hospital for subsequent admission.
Yesterday's flight, as is typical for this kind of activity, was authorised by the Prime Minister's Office, which manages and coordinates State aircraft fleet activities.
The Italian Air Force's flight departments are available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of individuals in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances.
Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of operation by aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and by helicopters from the 15th Wing of Cervia.
