This morning, the urgent flight from the airport concluded. Bari Palese to that of London Heathrow carried out with the new aircraft G650 from the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force to transport a specialised medical team in Organ theft.
On arriving at Bari Airport, the G650 The team, comprising three doctors, boarded and immediately took off for Milan. After landing at the Lombardy capital's airport, the medical team continued their journey to a healthcare facility in Piedmont by ambulance to carry out the delicate organ explant procedure. The G650 then returned to Ciampino, home of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force, to resume its operational readiness status.
The request for intervention was received from Bari Prefecture at the Air Force's Summit Situation Room Air Squadron Command of Milan, which immediately activated the 31st Wing of Ciampino, one of the Units that carries out operational readiness service for this type of mission and which has recently modernised its fleet with new G650 aircraft.
This morning's flight, as is the case with this type of activity, was authorised by the Prime Minister's Office which manages and coordinates the activities of the State aircraft fleet.
The Air Force Flying Squadrons are available to the public. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating even in complex weather conditions. They ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances.
Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, of 14th Practice Wing of Pratica di Mare, of 46th Air Brigade of Pisa from the helicopters of the 15th Air Wing of Cervia.
