Air Force Academy: 23rd Special Role Applied Course takes oath

48 officers in permanent active service have sworn allegiance to the Italian Republic.

Wednesday 24th February, at the Theatre of’Air Force Academy In Pozzuoli, the solemn individual oath-taking ceremony of 48 Officers belonging to the 23rd Applied Course – Special Role.

The Second Lieutenants (28 from the Air Force Arm, 16 from the Air Force Corps of Engineers and 4 from the Supply Corps) swore an oath of allegiance to the Italian Republic individually, before the Institute's Flag and in the presence of the Commander of the Air Force Academy, Air Division General Davide CIPELLETTI, and the Deputy Head of Training and Education, Colonel Simone Agostino ROCCA. Family members and a contingent of the permanent staff were also present.

The oath represents a fundamental stage in the training of Officials, sanctioning the commitment to serve the Country and the’Italian Air Force. The ceremony took on significant institutional and symbolic value, celebrating the human and professional growth of the young Officers, who are called upon to hold positions of responsibility after a period of technical-operational training.

In his speech, the General Cipelletti highlighted the excellent results achieved by the attendees and emphasised the value of the moment: “Becoming officers means leading and making decisions, but above all being accountable for one's choices. It means being an example, even before being Commanders. It means representing the Institution in every context, with balance in ordinary moments and firmness in the more complex ones. The credibility of the’Italian Air Force It resides not only in the systems it employs or the operational capabilities it expresses. It resides in the moral and professional quality of the women and men who serve it. It is on you, it is on all of us, that credibility is founded.

It Applied course, special role is divided into two modules: the first, military housing, common to all attendees, aims to provide the Basic military training and covers cross-cutting subjects such as command tasks and functions, organisation of the Defence and Air Force, military logistics, and communication techniques. The second is the modulo Professional, diversified according to the category of belonging, takes place at the Academy or at the relevant Departments.

As is tradition, the new course has been assigned a name, the initial of which is identified with that of the youngest regular Course. Jupiter The chosen name, therefore, represents an ideal of guidance, balance and authority, fundamental elements for those who operate in complex and dynamic environments and must maintain stability and coordination between different operational realities.

In addition to the Regular Courses at the Institute, Courses are also held for Officer Cadets (Complementary and Fixed-Term Pilots and Navigators), courses for Second Lieutenants appointed directly (both from the Normal and Special Roles), and finally, within the Academy's Study Plan, there are courses with a specialist aeronautical nature, for foreign personnel and other Armed Forces.
