The recovery in a rugged area was carried out on 8th June by the helicopter of the 670th Liaison and Rescue Squadron based in Decimomannu, following an alert from the COFA. The helicopter crew, having arrived near the accident site at 13:50 local time, taking into account the difficulty of the operation due to the terrain's orography and strong wind, dropped off two technicians and an air rescue specialist equipped with a stretcher in an accessible area to retrieve the patient and subsequently transport her to a location that would allow the winch to be used safely. At 14:50 local time, the helicopter then hoisted the injured woman and the three operators on board for subsequent transport to the ’San Francesco‘ Hospital in Nuoro, where it landed at 15:05 local time. The helicopter then returned to Decimomannu, landing at 15:55 local time. The crew of the 670th Squadron helicopter consisted of the pilots Lieutenant Daniele Maugeri and Lieutenant Gianluca Argiolas, the flight engineer, First Class Warrant Officer Alessandro Scanu, and the air rescue specialist, First Warrant Officer Ciro Savarese.
