The RAX14 was conducted on a scenario simulating a peace support operation specifically designed for the Training of Operations (OPS) and Master Air Operations Plan (MAOP) sectors.
The purpose and objective of RAX14 is to exercise and train the Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) of the NATO Command structure, with particular reference to the Combat Plans Division, Combat Ops Division and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Division, which are necessary for the activities of the DAOCs.
The exercise also allowed to test the operational and tactical information flow between AIRCOM and the DACCC in Poggio Renatico. RAX14 is the starting point for the RAMSTEIN AMBITION II exercise, which will see the complete JFAC structure deployed in an Air Heavy Campaign scenario.
The NATO Deployable Air Command and Control Centre (DACCC) in Poggio Renatico is a command and control centre for air operations that NATO can deploy in theatre to manage the Alliance’s air operations. The DACCC also provides training for international NATO personnel intended to operate in its fixed command and control centres (CAOC) and deployable command and control centres (DAOC).
