On 17 June 2026, the Auditorium “A. Visconti” in Palazzo Aeronautica hosted a meeting dedicated to Digital Information Management of Construction. The event, organised by the Infrastructure Service of Logistics Command of the Italian Air Force, brought together institutional representatives, legal experts, and companies from the engineering and technology sector. The main objective was to review the evolution of the sector, with particular attention to digital modelling, real estate data management, and the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

The meeting is a response to the new provisions introduced by the Public Contracts Code and the Guidelines from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT), which are encouraging public administrations to digitalise the design and maintenance processes for infrastructure projects. In this context, the Italian Air Force is resolutely pursuing the adoption of the BIM (Building Information Modelling) system to initiate a digital transition of its infrastructural assets, which will bring about rationalisation, transparency, and optimisation of resources.

During the work sessions, topics of significant practical impact were explored, such as the use of artificial intelligence to improve dialogue with businesses, the use of open data formats (open BIM) to ensure full digital autonomy, and the introduction of immersive technologies for Site safety. The adoption of these tools aims to improve daily management and contain the maintenance costs of the aeronautical state property.

The works were introduced by the welcome greeting of the Air Force General Achille Cazzaniga, Commander of the Air Force Logistics Command, who wished to emphasise the strategic value of digitalisation for the Armed Force's capacity projection. Subsequently, the floor was taken by Brigadier General Ing. Paolo Rizzetto, ; Head of Infrastructure Service of the AM Logistic Command. In his speech, General Rizzetto highlighted the centrality of the Service as a driving force behind the digital transition of the air domain, emphasizing how the adoption of BIM and new digital methodologies represents not only regulatory compliance, but an essential strategic choice to maximise the operational efficiency and safety of the Armed Force's critical infrastructures.

The organisation of the works involved dividing the conference into two distinct sessions: a first part of a technical-institutional nature, dedicated to national guidelines and cutting-edge technological solutions, and a second joint force session, focusing on the sharing of good practices and experiences gained within the Defence sector.

At the conclusion of the event, the General Rizzetto he thanked the participants, confirming the Infrastructure Service's commitment to continuing on the path of innovation and management transparency.
