The logistical support provided by the Cameri Aerodrome Command for aircraft involved in combating forest fires in Piedmont and Lombardy has concluded after eleven days of operational activity. From 25 October to 5 November, the Italian Air Force redeployed a unit composed of an HH212 helicopter and a technical support cell from the 80th SAR Centre of Decimomannu, which operated continuously in the areas affected by the emergency.
The efforts made by the aircraft crew in managing the various daily missions assigned, and the full support provided by the Cameri airport personnel, including the numerous refuelling operations for the Canadair aircraft involved, have made a significant contribution to extinguishing the fires. Colonel Roberto Zamponi, Airport Commander, expressed his satisfaction, highlighting the great professionalism and willingness demonstrated by his personnel in this demanding but important support activity, confirming the significant operational capabilities that the base is able to ensure and express in all circumstances.
