Emergency medical flight: one-day-old baby girl urgently transported from Alghero to Ciampino with an Italian Air Force Falcon 50

has just landed at Rome's Ciampino Airport (RM) a Falcon 50 del 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force with a one-day-old baby on board for whom urgent medical transport was necessary from the’North-West Sardinia University Hospital, where she was admitted with a serious respiratory illness, at the’Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital of Rome. 

The life-saving flight, requested by Sassari Prefecture, was immediately coordinated by Summit Situation Room of the Air Force Command, the Air Force operations room, which has among its duties the task of arranging and managing these types of missions by activating one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready, 24 hours a day, in various bases, for this kind of requirement. 

The crew of the 31st Wing on high alert, taking off from Ciampino airport in the morning, once reaching the airport of Alghero (SS), headquarters of the Air Force Airport Detachment, ha effettuato l’imbarco della piccola paziente a bordo del velivolo militare e, dopo aver messo in sicurezza la culla termica in cui era protetta la bimba, è decollato nuovamente verso lo scalo romano. Qui un’ambulanza un’ambulanza del servizio di trasporto neonatale di ARES 118 era ad aspettarla per poi trasferirla presso l’ospedale pediatrico romano per le necessarie cure mediche.
